City grandee Martin Scicluna was named the new Chairman of Sainsbury’s, replacing David Tyler, who has been in the role for nearly nine years.
Mr Scicluna is currently headed by property company great Portland estates and insurance firm RSA, and presented the FTSE 100 non-Executive Director of the year award for his work in the beginning of this year.
Sainsbury’s was earlier this year confirmed that it was the search for a replacement for Mr. Tyler, as part of an effort to comply with the corporate governance principles, which state that the presidents should not act as for more than nine years.
