In London rents fall for the first time in eight years

In London renters saw prices fall first time since 2010, while the broad housing market continues to cool, official data showed.

For the first time in almost eight years, the cost of renting in London fell 0.2 PC in may. In the UK, rental apartment, office for national statistics (ons) said.

The growth of London rent prices slowed from August 2014, when it reached a peak of 4.3 PC.

Meanwhile, housing prices rose overall, and returned to growth in London. Prices for residential property grew by 3.9 PC in the year to April, compared to 4.2 PC in the twelve months to March.

The two measures of rental prices and sale prices – influence each other.
