Hammerson sells two retail parks with a discount due to pressure from activist

Hammerson has sold two retail parks with a discount as it cooks to achieve disappointed investors with an updated strategy, which will be presented alongside its half-year results on Tuesday.

The owner of Birmingham’s Bullring and London’s Brent Cross shopping centres have hinted more Disposals could be on the way after selling the Imperial Retail Park in Bristol and Central Retail Park Fife in property Capreon investor for $ 164m.

Analysts say that the price, which is 10pc smaller than that of the sites was valued at in December, reflects the turbulent state of the retail sector in the UK, which took a wave of bankruptcies and hundreds of store closures in recent months.
