Chile is the latest business to become the subject of a data leak. According to the report the malware was used to collect information of payment (credit/debit cards, the names of the card holder). They believe that the data was stolen between March and April 2018, but they are still investigating the scope of the attack. It seems that this only applies to some restaurants in Chile and not all customers are affected, even if you visit during the broken period. They have not provided any estimates on how many injured clients, or a list of stores.
It was my long-term position that these data breaches will continue in increasing numbers until, while the penalty for a data breach increases accordingly. If you think that you are a victim of the data breach, I recommend reading this post and following the steps.
