Boss drugmaking giant astrazeneca urged to accelerate progress to avoid ‘no’ output of great Britain and confirmed the firm is to increase drug supplies in case of sharp British exit from the European Union.
Chief Executive Pascal Soriot said the governments of the United Kingdom and the EU need to expedite the negotiations to ensure the drugs were delivered to patients on both sides of the channel, after the company achieved good results for the half year today.
“This is not where we should be,” he said, commenting on the British exit from the EU. “We do everything we can to make sure patients do not run out of medication. But all parties must find a way to negotiate with the EU to clarify things.”
