The demand for spritz Aperol cocktails helped majestic wine swings to profit despite tough UK market.
AIM-listed business recorded a pre-tax profit of £8.3 m for the year to 2 April, compared with £1.5 m loss in 2017, as promised to make good the brutal conditions for the retail trade.
Chief Executive Rowan Gormley said: “If Britain took a course on retail crisis, as some commentators suggest, then we plan to the great crisis.”
He said that his sister business naked wines has driven profitable growth during the financial crisis of 2008, because he continues to invest in customer acquisition.
